Stormy Weather - Blog Post | S Godwin Studio

If you live in the UK then you will know all to well that the weather here is very unpredictable and can change rapidly, even in summer we sometimes have rain and storms. I would be sitting in a field or somewhere drawing in my sketchbook with the sun shining with blue skies and then within a matter of a few minutes it can all change with a grey cloud suddenly appearing and looking heavy and starts to rain, sometimes the cloud would soon disappear and the sun comes out again and sometimes it becomes overcast and turn stormy. It's ideal to carry a backpack and store artwork in a plastic folder, as an artist it can become disheartening when you finish a piece of art and your happy with it but then the rain pours down and ruins the artwork because you have nowhere to store it, so it's always best to be prepared when drawing or painting outside. If the weather is already cloudy and overcast I usually leave my sketchbook inside and just take a few photos of the sky for inspiration.

These images were taken by me in Kent, England.
